Finally had a chance to get out today, and  I met Supertrout on the crick for a little hot summer run fun.  Eric put on a clinic with the hardware today spanking several chromers like these two beauties.  They were super aggressive and some of the finest chrome specimens  I've seen in a while.  I managed to hook a couple on the standby summer jig deal, but the river was a little higher than I like, and line control was an issue.(mono)  I managed to miss three or four good takes.  The one solid hookup I had took me downstream two holes before I finally landed her.  Mas aerial action too.

I'm sure our buddy bmac was watching and shaking his head when I missed numerous takedowns.  It was special for me today, as I was fishing with his spinning reel.

Thanks for the hardware lesson Eric, you put on a splendid show.  Now we just need to get you a vb hat so you can get rid of your ducks unlimited lid Grin Grin

I said the same thing to myself on the river a couple days ago after I missed an easy take down...

Those look like some fine fish. Well done.

Here is the one Chumdog got:

The fish chumdog caught was  hot. I don't quite know what he means by giving him a lesson; I was sort of having a crash course in the technique myself.  Grin This was the second day I had ever fished hardware with success. I tried it yesterday and it worked so I had to try them again.

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro
