Has anybody ever caught anything beside trout and steelhead smolt with these spinners? They look fishy but seem kind of light.

Yes, I have caught some Salmon,Cutts,and Steelhead on them in some smaller rivers.  My biggest was a 9.5 lb Chinook on a small trib to the Local waters years ago........ My Favorite color was the yellow one with black dots.........................  |

Back in the day I caught many coho, chinook and mostly Steelhead on the Panther Martin inline spinners. I liked the size 9 and 15's with gold blade and black/yellow dot body. I think I've caught a hundred or so steelhead on the #15's. If I had choice between a Vibrax and a Panther Martin I would fish the Panther Martin, for various reasons. A few years back i ordered a crap load of inline blades in all type of finishes from Stamina. Through ordering trial and error I finally got some good sizes and finishes dialed in. Then something called RVRFSHR came along and now I'd rather fish one of Joe/Todd's spinners, if I felt inclined to fish gear.
If you are serious about trying inline's I have a crap load of blades I'd get rid of cheap. One of the downfall's of P.M. is crappy shafts, so building your own with good shafts (PenTac or RVRFSHR) is a good way to go, plus you aren't wasting money on treble hooks either.
Other spinners that may or may not exist anymore, but are similar to P.M.'s are "Tiger Tails" and "Sonic Rooster Tails".

Love em on summer runs, that lead body helps keep it down.
I like the 1/4-3/8 oz spinners.

Summer runs and smallmouth bass. gold blade yellow body with red dots. They seem sturdy to me.

I'm with JDF on the color of the PM's... Gold blade with the yellow dotted black body accounted for many trout and a few steelhead for me before completely switching to french blade style spinners. The gold blade black dotted orange/yellow bodied Rooster Tail followed a close second to the PM during that same time period... |

Seems like Yellow,Black, and gold combination components are the winners when it comes to colors. Why would that be Boys? Many of us seem to have similar experiences with this brand of spinners and we all seem to have similar color preferences......... Never liked the small trebles and the gimpy shafts but good spinners never the less.  |

I haven't fished spinners or spoons much for steelhead, so this may seem like a silly question, but how come it seems like people use single hooks exclusively? Is this for ease of removal from wild fish or because they hook the fish better? Or is there some reason im missing?

On the fish's face/mouth, loosing of the fish, and a major bummer for removal from (if still living in 1970 and using one), a net...  Any body here ever have one of those huge bags of trebles in every assorted size and finish that they took off factory lures and kept lying around, "just in case"? I had more than a few, then when saving the planet became "popular" and "recycling" took off, they went to a King County Solid Waste site for sorting...  |

Guess a guy could snip the stock shaft & redo it w/ putting that single gami/sickle siwash hook on. The stock shafts work good for me, but I fish the bigger size spinners. What I like on the P-M is that free spinning blade, it works in the lightest current. I use the size #6 & #9, @ 1/4 & 3/8 th OZ. respectively.
