thompson fish, skeena watershed fish, coquihalla fish, chehalis fish, all summerruns. They close those systems down to fishing come december 31st. Why? To stop the by catch of wintering summer runs that are preparing to spawn.
Younggun please do your homework, lots of Skeena rivers are still open, Chehalis open, lower Coq open, there are very few that close in December. Our govt could care less about Steelhead, why else would they let guys

catch steelhead in small streams of the Fraser Valley over and over and over, were talking pin cushioning a run of 200 fish maximum.
These steelhead from Idaho come from rivers that produce more hatchery fish in every river than we do in all of BC, why not let guys fish for these fish that barely are able to spawn successfully and should be taken out of the gene pool. Were talking hatchery mutants here so kill em and eat em or perhaps plant them in the garden.
In BC we spend BILLIONS on the Olympics and last year our minister of the environment proudly announced NO MONEY at all for Steelhead, zip nada nothing. Yet I am led to believe they are out to protect the wild fish with province wide blanket closures on wintering fish because YG says so.
