That could mean the NOOCH IS UNFISHABLE! But I have not heard whether or not any of that is true.

it's running pretty colored up out of the dam, i figured it'd be a little better down below because of the tributary creeks dumping clear water, but i haven't been over to look lately.
can't believe it's shaping up to me going almost an entire winter without wetting a line in the lower end of the river, despite black creek being 15 miles from my front door. i just can't deal with the pressure of being a weekend warrior down there...

Not a joke - they're seriously trying to keep them off 'their' river. Once people start talking about bad river conditions or no fish, you gotta wonder if it's just manufactured BS to convince you to go somewhere else.

Floated the lower section yesterday and yes this was an obvious joke. With closures up north and weekend crowds in the hundreds this was someone's idea of adding a little humor into the equation. Take it with a grain of salt. Moral of the story is that it's probably not prudent to be chasing internet reports anyhow. Remember, these are posts/reports from fisherman Not just saying this cause I'm a local but it was gin clear and really tough fishing on friday, we didn't touch a thing. We need some rain pronto.

was not chasing any reports, just bumped into it. i still think its crap some jack ass would post a faults report on a possible navigation issue. i have to drive 250 mls. to fish that river... i guess i was a little stupid believing the report might be real ,thats why i thought i could get some facts here....

I saw it too BB. Wasn't suggesting you may have been chasing interwebz reports. That was more directed at people doing that in general.
It does suck that someone would post something like that regarding a navigational hazard but it was cleared up rather quickly in the thread you're talking about.

~Mike~ There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

man, if you have to drive 250 miles, wouldn't you want to go somewhere a little more peaceful?
seems like most of the other locals have more or less written off that river's winter fishery...it belongs to seattle now.

Nope. It belongs to Olympia and Tacoma, really. I'd say Oly, Tacoma, and Shelton judging by the license plates I see parked in some of the more popular spots.
