Judging from today's outing, I'd have to go with the tipped jig aka prawnholder : Of course the pink thumper is hard to beat: I always liked our buddy Brian's theory about the aggressiveness of these winter steelhead: it really doesn't matter because if there's a fish in a hole and you are even in the ballpark, he/she will take your crap no matter what.

For him there whould always be the riddle of steel
|
Sandshrimp w/ pink yarn where its legal to use them, drifted w/ a corkie or deadfish weighted under a float. I you run out of them cured prawn chunks will work too....... Steelhead can't leave them alone if you stick em in there face. c/22

Come on now JDF...it's been my go-to of late. I'd rather be flyfishing, but I'm stuck over here living in the south sound. You should pay a visit and I could get the boys together for a pow-wow

Hot dogs under a float
I saw that work this morning watching TV with my son on "Little Bill"!

~Mike~ There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

i'm a firm believer in every thing works very well in the hands of anyone who fishes the options correctly. knowledge of fish location and confidence is trully the ultimate key to steelhead success hands down. every option has it's strong points and weaknesses, todd being our god of sorts is great example of this.

is the brewer speaking in the first person now? I agree they all have their place and are effective. Fished with confidence, even a hotdog under a float will catch fish (Shrimp scented of course)

Thats what i was trying to see ... People always ask "Whats the best bait?" ... show them this poll and they will realize there is no "BEST" bait

An adipose fin is a beautiful thing!

"Favorite" and "Best" are not the same thing...if I had to go out and catch a fish, or my family and I would starve to death, today...I'd use a big glob of eggs.
Fish on...
