I was trying to figure out what I could add to this thread and here is a really good addition to your smoker.........

See the attached Pict's for visual aids.

I have found that, especially in the winter,my Little Chief's and Big Chief's smoker's have a tendency to not get hot enough to produce a good quality smoked fish.So hear is a little cover that I built that really works well........... All you need is a measuring tape, some 3/4' to 1" thick plywood, screws, or nails, or staples, Wood glue if wanted, a square, drill motor with drill bits(paddle bits work just fine) a table saw or a skill saw if that is all that you have access to.  Very easy to build and it really adds to the amount of heat that is sustained within the smoker.Make sure to allow enough clearance for the cover to easily fit over the smoker(I would suggest around 1" all around).....Make sure to allow some handles on the upper piece (the top with the smoke holes drilled in).....The clearance acts as an Insulating barrier from heat(we do not need a fire) and also as an insulating barrier to keep the heat in.......

I have used this cover for several years and it is the shiat............

Good luck and let me know what you guys think!
