Snow on the Hoh

This is one of the best new products I have seen in a long time. I'm not sure how long its been around, but I just found out about it. It is called a "Katch Kooler" made by Silver Horde. Jason had one of these on our trip yesterday and it is an excellent way to keep your hatchery steelhead cool and fresh all day while fishing, without taking up a bunch of room in your truck or trunk. When not being used it folds up into a small compact size. It is definitely on my list of things to get.

Here is a product review from Salmon University
Katch Kooler

It sells for around $20 at Sportco:

That's very cool.  Are there any nooks that a guy could stash a couple of cold ones in? Grin

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro

Heck yes, a guy could fill one side with cold beverages on Ice, the other side for the fish! It is almost a perfect system. Grin

Speaking from experience, it will hold on one side - a bag of ice and a six pack of bottled micro brew and on the other side 2 hatchery steelhead 8 and 14lbs - no problemo  Grin

That was a pretty good load for it, so each guy needs his own as you're not going to be putting more than a couple fish in it.  Also, it works pretty well on its own without any ice especially this time of year.

codfather showed me one a few weeks ago. they look awesome. i believe sportsmans has them .
i have a honda i drive if i am fishing by myself to save on gas. they tend to not have a ton of room for a cooler so that bag would be perfect.

Katch Cooler's are awesome. "Spud" a buddy of mine on some of the other boards makes these in China and sells them to Silver Horde.

Whenever I do a walk-in to a spot I know I am going to be fishing at for a while, I'll throw a few beers and lunch in the bag with a gel-ice pack and I'm good to go for the day. They clean up pretty easy too, just rinse and hang upside down to dry.

Keep one in your trunk and you dont have to worry about what your going to keep your Katch in for the ride home....

Are they easy to clean and dry out.  I would worry about getting a funky stank thing going. Grin

i've had one for 2 years, they're great!  nice to not have to take up a bunch of space in the back seat with the cooler, or worry about getting it stolen out of the back of my pickup.
