On the quest for big chrome steel

WWW
« Topic Start: February 22, 2005, 09:52:18 AM »

Been using the jigs for a few years now ,mostly for pinks and chums while I'm guiding.I have had a real hard time getting quality jig head/hooks ,most can't take the pull of fresh chum. Also my jigs have all been tied by myself using, just different colors of marabou.BCSteel, introduced me to this site and to the awesome jigs from first cast ,it's very nice to have quality jigs now ,but I am tired of tying the same old marabou patterns .Hopefully someone from this site can point me in the right direction to find info on how to tie those beautiful palmered schlappen jigs ,those things look deadly .I have recieved my 150 jigs from first cast and with wild monster steel awaiting the next rain ,I would like to be armed with some sweet jigs to tempt these brutes.I like that idea of fishing down with the jigs and fishing back up with the Mor tac monster magnets. Thanks for any help you can give . Ironhead,

You may have already seen these. If not, here are a few good tutorials:

Here are a couple of off-site tutorials:

These should keep you busy for awhile.

I think I gave him those same links a couple weeks ago  laugh

Dont worry Ironhead, I'll stop in at your place soon and we'll pound out some good looking jigs in big quantities.

The links the Zonker has provided are some of the best available.  Willow Drifter has done some tying for me and his work is top notch.

The one thing I like about using palmered schlappen and hackle is the finished jig looks different from a typical clumped marabou jig.  The palmered feathers creates a jig that has a nice, full body that looks great in and out of the water.
