I fished the C this morning for a couple hours and managed to find this little colored hatchery buck:

My spoon funk continued, hooking a nice bright fish on a brass Mortac, only to lose it on the first jump.  It was a gorgous morning, and the river is low, low, low!

Nice pic Chumdog!

My spoon funk continues also, as I am unable to even get a hookup on the bent metal...

That's a great shot. The sun refracting through the ripples gives a really nice effect.

Good work on the fish, and the camera.  Cool

Chumdog, I think you are the most efficient steelheader I know.  You get one fish for every hour you spend fishing! Grin  Nice work and very cool work on the photo.  You and bugs are the funk when it comes to fish photography!

There are a few kinds of steelhead fishing; fly, float, drift, spoon, spinner, plugs, boondoggin, bobberdoggin,.... and then there is float fishing in 18\" of water.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Afro

Nice fish Dean

Chumdog are you using bent hooks with your spoons?  I read an article in STS were Herzog explained how to bend the tine down and then the shank over.   After reading it I thought about the day Brian had, and wondered.

Yes, I do bend them a little, and they're barbless.  Also, I switched back to mono on my spoon fishing, because I really don't like braid under this application.  I'm not a carry two rods guy, so I just carry a spare Shimano in my vest, and switch reels at the top.   I guess it's just operator error. laugh
