This is a great invention from bugnuts......Have you ever wished there was some way to carry a second rod when you want to fish one rig upstream and a totally different setup coming back downstream? Have you ever cursed when you felt like swinging a spoon but were too lazy to cut off your float/leader/jig? Does this sound like a Ronco commercial?

I built a contraption that allows me to carry a second rod, either fully rigged or broken down, on my backside. It consists of a 14" piece of 1 5/8" PVC pipe, a bracket made for attaching 1 1/4" electrical conduit to a wall, a screw/nut, a 1 1/2" cork float (hence the name), and a leather shoe lace. Here's a picture:

You must either wear a secure wading belt or fanny pack to use the Third Ball. I hook the bracket to the belt on my back, run the lace under my crotch, and squeeze the cork either between my waders and the wading belt or fanny pack to keep it from tilting. Using a cork makes it easy to adjust the amount of leather. Dardevle accuses me of getting a "rub" from the lace under my gonads everytime I walk, but I won't comment on that other than to say so what if I am?

It takes a little getting used to as far as reaching behind to pull one rod out while placing the other in the rod holder, but after using it steelheading last winter, it is definitely worth the effort. Good luck!
