Brian
McArthur
July
21, 1959 - February 12, 2009
Brian McArthur "Gone
Fishing" The rivers of Western Washington will never be the
same again. "B Mac" has gone. That would be Brian
McArthur, the most avid steelhead fisherman the world has ever
known. His nickname came from his website, steelhead notebook.
Check it out. Brian was born in Tacoma on July 21, 1959 and passed
away Feb. 12, 2009. He was a 29-year employee at Washington
Natural Gas and Puget Sound Energy where he served most recently
as a Construction Manager. A graduate of Wilson high, he spent two
years at Pierce College prior to his PSE career. He is survived by
his companion of nearly 20 years, Karen Kim, and her children
Malea and Derek (Jessica) and four grandchildren, his parents
Arlene and Doug McArthur, brother Sandy (Sun Hwa), and sister Kari
Gander (Darin), nieces Brittany Cure and Grace McArthur. The
family was overwhelmed by the number of visitors he had in the
final week of his life at Good Samaritan hospital and the many
fish stories that were told, so full of joy and "lies".
Thanks to Dr. Michael X. Liao and his staff who treated his
Melanoma and subsequent brain cancer. The family is honoring his
wish for cremation at Mountain View, with his ashes to be
scattered at the Hoh river. A celebration of his life will be held
Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m. at the Tacoma Elks Lodge. Consider this
your invitation. .
Brian's
family extends a heartfelt thank you to all for your support and
kind words during his battle with cancer.
